A while ago I posted a short video of the results of a robot being driven around manually while recording range data with a spinning distance sensor. Several people had asked for me to post my code. I didn't write all of that code though so I decided to create a new robot that I could use as a test bench which would do a similar thing but with entirely my own code. The previous robot used a map that was essentially a bitmap. The big problem with that is that you can't have too big of a map. This new robot will save the original scans along with the location where the scan was taken. If a map is needed, one can be generated from those scans at whatever grid size you want within whatever bounds you want.
Code will be located here: github.com/jack-buffington/mappingRobot
I'll be posting some videos periodically from now on talking about my progress and how things work at that time. (Updated 9/20/21)

Robogames entry
This video is about an entry that I built for Robogames 2023. It is for the muscle wire crawler competition where "robots" traverse a two meter course to see which entry can cross the course the fastest.

Starting your nodes when the robot boots
Переглядів 3882 роки тому
This video is part of a series of videos about an open source mapping robot that I am working on. In this video, I talk about four different ways that you can get your nodes to run automatically when your robot boots up. If you would like to build a robot like this for yourself, you can find all design files, and links to other resources at www.robotbrigade.com/mappingRobot.php

He's so cool writing backwards the whole time!!!👏
he's not writing backward, its just the video is flip horizontally
Glad you are back! Although I’m not an EE, these videos have helped me to learn how to wire for electrical parts in a remodel project I’m doing. I don’t even need to hire anyone. Don’t tell building officials I don’t have a permit! Haha
Lot of dumbos in comment section >.<
love you sir .
Very informative, nice tips and way better than I was taught in class. Highly recommend this. Thank you for the video.
bang rambut tukar kaler aah
Thank you, I am taking the exam this week and I understand your lesson very well
When I was earning my master's degree, I heard a lot about finite state machines (FSMs), but it was all theory - like clouds in the sky: there's a lot of water, but you can't drink it. I toiled for three months after graduating until I implemented my first FSM in code in 1981. Now, there is a programming methodology based on this concept - v-agent oriented programming (VAOP) - with many examples of its implementation. It's best to start learning about VAOP with this article on Medium: "Bagels and Muffins of Programming or How Easy It Is to Convert a Bagel into a Black Hole". With VAOP, you can implement FSM in any programming language.
i want the problem the other way around use state machine to get d flip flops
Great explanation!!!
Thank you
mad tobey maguire peter parker vibes. Thx for explanation
Do you tutor in EE?
No. I don't tutor. At least at the moment. Shortly after publishing this video, I became insanely busy again and it looks like that will continue for at least the next year. For those of you who have been following these videos, I'm still planning on finishing up this robot but it is going to have to wait until I finish my current project.
Good work
thy beröther
This was such a great, clear and concise explanation.
Please I need you help to realize my school project, how can i get your contact for communication?
Picked up a lot ofgood pointers from your video, thanks.
first
This is the same level of gold as Seth Macfarlane’s animation work at the time.
Thanks!
Captivating
Thanks for the video. What you presented was very interesting. I wish you would have gone into much more detail about these PAL chips however.
wtf r u saying
aahahaah
I stopped at 1:21 , further watching...cos it's terrible explanation. Even what he says, doesn't match what he draws, let alone what he describes.... He is matching the CLK signal per se, as the reflection at OUTPUT, telling, the time lapsed since the change in input is reflected at the out..blah blah....input is STILL - ZERO, flat line....boooo
Thank you. Your explanation is amazing.
You and Jeff Bezos have a similar voice.
why did you draw it so that 01 outputs 2 and 10 outputs 1?
how come the and gate at the beginning is connected in a way with the (low/high) bits such that 00 = 0, 01=2, 10=1 and 11=3
i just have one question, did you have to learn to write it mirrored ??
The video is mirrored
Thank you!
It's awesome to visit a video this old from a UA-camr who is a machine maker!
They write it mirror inverted?
Another "wow" project.
Tremendous!
Fantastic. What an awesome set of challenges that needed to be overcome.
this guy is the fpga master.
im falling asleep..... snnnnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre...
WOOOOW Are U Writting Number in Backward ..... just for explain to us in the glass ??
thank you this helped me visuallize this better.
Oh reminds me of the 1980s when our lecturer said *"...I want you to design a traffic light controller using JK flip flops and logic gates..."* Easy enough I thought until you try to do it which involves lots of truth tables, Karhaugh maps etc 😂
Legends watching this after 10 years just before exam
😂😂😂
you look like Qaem, Nice zelf man
He was pissed off Before You pissed him off!
YOU ARE THE WORST. IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE TAUGHT THAT WAY. JUST DELETE THE F AND PUT C IN A PLACE OF F EVERYWHERE. YOU ARE THE WORST WORST.
Amazing 😊 thx

This mans Adorable
I feel like a total idiot for not knowing this sooner.
I wish that i had your videos earlier on in the course.
Finally, somebody actually understands what's going on!! Thank you!
